At Optima we aim to teach students to use language, not just to perform in the classroom, but also outside in the real world. Ideal for younger students (aged 13 -
An intensive 15 -
Stimulating courses of 10, 15 or 20 hours of lessons over a week long course for those seeking to improve their English in a relaxed and friendly environment with others of a similar disposition. Classes are focused mainly around conversation and discussion within the group is encouraged. Individual work is also set. The course also offers the unique opportunity of organised evening and weekend activities with a member of staff. For example , an excursion to a local brewery, a trip to London or Brighton, an evening at the theatre and an evening meal at a traditional pub with English conversation always at hand. Students are either placed with a host family, or alternatively if preferred, a hotel or guest house can be arranged. Courses run all year round.
These provide a great opportunity for whole classes to visit England and produce a CLIL project under the supervision of specialist teachers. Previous CLIL projects have centred around historical and modern subject matter on a wide range of project themes. The projects incorporate excursions relevant to the subject of study. Projects are designed to stretch the students’ academic horizons, simultaneously enhancing their grasp of the English language. Over the period of two weeks, or more if requested, students live with a carefully chosen host family. Courses run all year round.
Learning English through the mediums of Drama and Dance is a successful and fun way to improve skills and build confidence in the use of the English language. We work in association with The Ratton Academy of Performing Arts, who provide us with professional instructors on our courses.
